The Stähelin Family Fund and the Adolf Stehelin Family Foundation
There are two family foundations. The older one, the ‘Stähelin Family Fund’ (formerly the ‘Stähelin Poor Fund’), was established in 1739 by Balthasar Stähelin-Ryhiner (§61) with a bequest of a thousand pounds. His daughter Dorothea and his son Benedict (§177) added further substantial sums to their father’s capital deposit.
The more recent of the two foundations is the ‘Adolf Stehelin Family Foundation’, established by Adolf Stehelin (§117,7) in 1898.
Both foundations have similar aims. However Adolf Stehelin’s definition of eligible descendants is narrower than that of Balthasar Stähelin-Ryhiner.
